Care for Felt Play Food

Felt food is a popular type of play food that is made from felt fabric. It is often used by children to pretend to cook and eat, but it can also be used for educational purposes or as simple decorations. Felt food is durable and relatively easy to care for, but there are a few things you can do to keep it looking its best.

Here are some tips on how to care for felt food:

Caring for Felt Play Food

  1. Spot Clean Only – Gently wipe with a damp cloth if dirty. Don’t soak or machine wash—wool can lose its shape.

  2. Keep Dry – Avoid water play or wet hands. Moisture can cause the felt to warp or fuzz.

  3. No Rough Tugging – Play gently. Pulling on small parts like stems or toppings may cause them to loosen.

  4. Store Safely – Keep in a bin or basket when not in use. Protect from pets who may chew or children under 3 (small parts may pose a choking risk).

  5. Trim Fuzzies if Needed – Use small scissors to carefully snip any loose fibers—don’t pull.

With proper care, felt food can last for many years. By following these tips, you can help to keep your felt food looking its best and provide hours of fun and educational play for your children.
