I offer hand-crafted home decor & more. Curious about what I create? I can answer questions here about my work and myself. My blog is full of information on the crafts that I enjoy and inspiring ideas and resources and so much more.
Please reach me at lovelydayartisanloft@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Currently I work with felt to make felt play food and flowers. I also create handcrafted needle felt figures and paintings. I like using hand stitched embroidery to add details to play felt food and needle felt. I'm looking to expand on that and do more with embroidery. I am just learning how to be creative with paper quilling. For more on these art forms check out my blog.
I use a lot of materials for all the crafts I create. Some examples include using poly-fil stuffing as a core for Needle Felted pieces and I like Corriedale wool from sheep in New Zealand to complete the project. For Embroidery I like DMC embroidery floss. I am still learning Paper Quilling so I haven't found a favorite product or resource just yet. For more info check out my blog.
Unfortunately I cannot offer custom orders at this time. But please feel free to send me a message if you are looking for something in particular you think I might be able to help you with and I will let you know if I can assist and if I have the time to do so.
The reasons my pieces are so unique is because it is very hard for me to duplicate anything I make exactly the same way again. Making each one a special and singular creation.
I have always enjoyed trying different forms of art over the years. In high school I loved talking art classes. Trying different things like pottery, drawing, batik, rag baskets and other more. As a young adult I played with painting and drawing and photography. Then as a mother of young boys I started working with felt making quiet activity books and play mats. Then onto play food and flowers. Then came needle felting. I taught myself how to needle felt during Covid. Now I'm getting more into embroidery. I use a little embroidery in felt play food and on needle felted pieces. I'm looking to explore more ideas in the world of embroidered art. Lastly I'm getting into paper quilling. After seeing some paper quilling pieces I was curious and started looking into how to do it myself.
My artistic inspiration comes from a variety of sources. I often generate ideas independently, exploring different concepts in my mind. Observing other art, regardless of the medium, can spark my creativity and motivate me to experiment with similar themes or techniques. I also find inspiration in the natural world – animals, colors, seasons, and landscapes all contribute to my artistic vision. I enjoy crafting narratives within my pieces, creating a sense of scene or story. While I don't typically use patterns, templates and even coloring pages can be helpful tools in my creative process.
It all depends on what I'm working on at the time. I do run a stop watch so I can know how long it takes so I can account for that in my pricing. I hope to get better and better and faster so my prices are affordable for everyone. I would say most things take at least an hour and a half. A few pieces can take up to five and six hours. It depends on the size and the details.
I start with the cost of materials used on each piece. Then I account for the time it takes each finished product. Lastly I pay myself a minimum hourly wage. So those three things go into considering the price point for each piece I create. I do not account for the time it takes to take photos and list each item online or time spent on social media.
Well I would say no, I have my hands full with hand stitched embroidery, felt, handcrafted needle felt, needle felt painting and trying to get creative paper quilling. But, you never know, so stay tuned.
Well, it came about after thinking about it for several days. I was originally known as Feltabulous Creations. I decided to change my name because I wanted to branch out and not have a name with only the word felt in it. I wanted something that didn't tell you exactly what I make as I evolve in the craft world.
Lovely Day Artisan Loft came from a few things.
Lovely Day can mean just that. It's a lovely day to be creative, share your work with others, to purchase something handmade and so on. Lovely Day is also a great song, and my ringtone, by Bill Withers.
Artisan is the only word that lets you know I offer artwork.
And Loft was because I work upstairs in our home! So that's how I came up with Lovely Day Artisan Loft.
I am from the North East. Born in Maryland and moved around a bit since that time. I've lived in New York, Virginia, Massachusetts and New Jersey.
I moved to Atlanta Georgia as a young adult after seeing a Grateful Dead concert. This was before the Olympics were here so being here for that was incredible!
I met my husband and we have two boys. We have had a few cats and dogs and a turtle, briefly. We found her a much better home.
I love being with family and friends. I am a pet sitter with one of my best friends. I like to read and watch documentaries. I collect shot glasses from places I've been. I have a collection of pins that include favorite movies, books, TV shows and more. I like to stay on top of current events and have a strong political viewpoint.
I like football and hockey. I watched football growing up with my dad but never really had a favorite team, maybe because we moved around. Now I follow the Pittsburgh Steelers, I married into that! I fell in love with hockey living in Massachusetts so I love the Boston Bruins. And I follow the Michigan Wolverines, I started watching college football in 1997 and I just liked something about that particular team. I remember Charles Woodson and they won the Rose Bowl so it was a fun year. I enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox for many years, including their incredible 2004 season but I just don't have time to follow baseball these days.
As stated above I like The Grateful Dead as well as other music from the 60's, 70's and 80's. I like many genres of music from the classic and timeless Frank Sinatra to the upbeat sounds of Reggae.
I love to go for walks through parks, hiking trails and on beaches. I especially enjoy walking in the fall, that's my favorite season. I have completed a few virtual 5k events for various charities.
I love to travel though we haven't done as much of that since having kids. I visited Montreal and Puerto Rico as a teenager. Honeymooned in Ireland and went a cruise of the Mediterranean that included Spain, France, Italy and Malta. And Belize was a magical place to visit. We've been fortunate to visit many states but have many more to see.
I hope to retire and move to the Oregon someday! We visited the Oregon coast years ago and loved it. I want to explore all of Oregon.
